After 20 years of hesitation…feeling beautiful, feminine and empowered.
We truly love it when people take the time to write us a few lines, paragraphs or even essay on what they got out of their experience with us. Here are the beautiful words of Patricia Ann, a summary of her experience and with her permission we have added just a few of her images:
“Last September I gathered the courage, after 20 years of hesitation, to call and make an appointment for a photo shoot with Gary Sarre.
At that time, I did not have one photograph in my home in which I was not pulling a face or grimacing at the camera. I left that session feeling absolutely fantastic and confident, a feeling which lasted for a long while.
The photographs, to my disbelief, turned out amazingly well. Gary had somehow managed to capture me, not a painted, posed version of myself but the real me, in every photograph.
Even though the photos were beautiful and I now had some I was very proud to display, I still felt a twinge of regret that I had not posed for any “nudes”. I had taken some beautiful lingerie shots in the earlier session but baulked at the thought of posing nude.
I am 63 years old and my body bears adequate testimony to that fact. However, inside this body still beats the heart of a younger woman and finally, almost a year later, taking the bit between my teeth, nervously booked for a “nude” photo shoot with Gary.
The photo shoot was great, leaving me feeling beautiful, feminine and empowered. None of the photos taken were sleazy or distasteful. At no time, did I feel old, embarrassed, or compromised in any way.
‘Why nude shots?’ you might ask. Like most other women my age I have the usual pieces of jewellery, etc. to hand down to my grandchildren and great grandchildren. However, I wish my photographs to be a lasting and treasured memento for them, one that they could look at in later years (maybe when faced with doubts and challenges of their own) and proudly state-“That was my Nana posing nude for these photos at her age”. Maybe, just maybe, my courage would be an inspiration to them and they would realise that they, too, could achieve anything they set their mind to do.
Thank you, Gary, for a truly memorable experience, one that I remember fondly and will always cherish. After raising a family, being a mother and housewife, there were many times I felt old and unappreciated. It was good to be reminded that I am still a woman, feminine and beautiful in my own way. Gary, the photographs you took of me are living testimony to that fact. Once again, I thank you.”
